The challenges of markets with limited stock content.
I happily bought my new machine and has been running for 6 months then the forklift driver reversed into the machine and broke one of the sensors completely off…
I know what I want…I can see the part number but I cannot find this spare locally.
Luckily the world is now small with the internet but at best I can only get it in 3 days time, Production can’t wait that long!
You want to tell me no-one can find a replacement for you? I shake my head in disbelieve!
Most, if not ALL, components are duplicate designs…probably 0.001% of machines have special purpose designed components in the control system.
What am I talking about?
For just about all electrical components, between manufacturers, they are interchangeable.
Lets say it is a proximity sensor that is broken.
Know what to look for and production will soon start.
What technology is it based on?
Are there any special features (sensing range, back ground suppression etc) your broken sensor uses?
What value of power supply it operates on?
Does it have any timing functions?
What type of output does it have?
There done…You now have all the tools to find a replacement sensor locally.
The same goes for all electronic modules and other electrical equipment.
Hopefully this gives you some peace of mind.
