Motor starting: Softstarter with thermal overload CALCULATED!

I bought this Lovato softstarter, I am commissioning it now and it trips on thermal overload BUT I NEVER INSTALLED A THERMISTER.

Ohh, but Lovato has got this nice feature…
and he rudely interrupts me with…”NICE FEATURE, MAYBE FOR YOU!”

Yah, but you don’t require a thermister…it looks at the frequency of starts and usage and according to an internal algorithm it will let you know via this alarm that you are pushing the limits.

During commissioning it will activate the alarm because one might start/stop the SS unusually frequently and possibly with unreasonable parameter values.

Easiest thing to do is simply disable this alarm for commissioning sake…but don’t forget it off, it really might save the softstarter one day.

There everyone is happiness.

BTW: It does have an input for external PTC thermister as well, if you want to use that.

More on softstarters?
