I vote this to be the most confuxing IEC standard…IEC 60664 Pollution degree?
Is it the product causing the pollution they are talking about or is it that the product is limited to these environments, I don’t know?

It does not appear very scientific as no specific critieria had been set for each of the pollution degree classes. In other words, it is always arguable on complying with the relevant standard.

Yes agreed – but same goes for the other “environmental” standards like ingress protection (IP rating). Think I will slap that table on here just for reference as well(later).
IP 54 imply: protection against dust (limited ingress) and against water jets.
But I guess the counter argument could be how else scientific could one define it?
